What is RoboCup ?
RoboCup is one of the biggest Robotics and Artificial
Intelligence competitions in the world.
RoboCup is one of the biggest Robotics and Artificial
Intelligence competitions in the world.
The RoboCup Federation is the organization that brings together scientists from all over the world recognized in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. It is this committee that coordinates the RoboCup community and organizes the event every year with the host city.
Proposed in 1996 by Hiroaki Kitano to stimulate research, RoboCup was born with the crazy and very complex challenge that at the Football World Cup in 2050, robots would be able to play on the field with humans.
The robotics competition took place in 2016 in Germany, in 2017 in Japan, in 2018 in Montreal and in 2019 in Sydney.
For its 24th edition, the robotics and artificial intelligence competition « RoboCup » takes place in France at the Bordeaux Exhibition Center (Parc des Expositions de Bordeaux).
Organised around competition leagues representing scientific fields of research, the event brings together thousands of researchers around a common ambition: to share knowledge and advance technical and scientific progress.
RoboCup aims to promote interest, practice and knowledge of related sciences: mechatronics, computer science, electronics, mechanics, Internet of things and artificial intelligence.
RoboCup is an annual event. But throughout the year it takes the form of local events around the world, national and even continental events with the European RoboCup Open, the Asia-Pacific RoboCup Open and the Latin America RoboCup Open. The synergy is also promoted and supported by the federation, which supports international exchanges of students and researchers throughout the year.
Each RoboCup is also the occasion for an International Symposium, a high place for presentation and discussion of scientific contributions. This meeting of researchers allows to highlight the latest advances in robotics and artificial intelligence with the best researchers in the subject.
The 2023 Symposium will take place on Monday 10 July at the University of Bordeaux (Université de Bordeaux).
